LISTEN UP

National Day of prayer is on Thursday May 4th at city halls in cities all around the United States from 12-1pm (CST). PPV is coordinating the National Day of Prayer gathering in Kinloch and Bellefontaine Neighbors. All watchmen are welcome to join us at either of these city hall locations, downtown St. Louis city hall, or the city hall in your own community. We are encouraging everyone who is available to participate in this powerful demonstration of corporate prayer that is sanctioned by the United states government! To find out more information about locations in the STL Metro area visit the National Day of Prayer website www.gatewayndp.net

Additionally, PPV is excited to announce that there will be a group of Korean intercessors present at Kinloch City Hall! Take a look at the article above to learn more about this group of intercessors.

Watchmen's Word presented by Journaling Your Journey

"My sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me." (John 10:27)

As watchmen on the wall, communicating with God is something that we commonly practice throughout the day. But, how often do we take the time to consider what the word communication really means. Communication with God does not only involve you talking. Effective communication requires listening as well. God has something to say to you, and sometimes your prayer time will consist of you closing your mouth to listen.

Listening is actually a process that can be divided into 5 steps outlined by O’Hair & Wiemann (2012). Below, it has been adapted to apply when listening to the voice of God.

Selecting: Make the clear choice to tune out other noises and choose to hear the voice of God.

Attending: When you make the choice to hear God, focus your attention on His Presence, His words, and His message to you, BE SILENT.

Understanding: Interpret and make sense of the message God has given you, ask for clarity, and/or confirmation from the Bible or others you trust.

Remembering: You should be able to recall the message God had given you at a later time (God may add more to the original message).

Respond: You should respond to let God know you received and understand His message. This means being obedient to the voice of God. Essentially, in order to be an effective listener of God, and in turn communicate effectively with Him, you must operate in obedience.

Adapted from: O’- Hair, D., & Wiemann, M. (2012). Real communication: An introduction (2nd ed.). New York: Bedford/St. Martin’s.

Watchman's Reflection ( feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section located at the bottom of this page)

  2. In what ways can you improve your listening skills?

Pastors United

After a cruel attack on the life of a young man on the parking lot of Calvary Bible Church in Florissant, MO a committed group of pastors decided to come together on the 2nd Friday of every month to Pray and stand against the attacks of the enemy on our city, state, country, and world. We believe this monthly gathering is evidence of the prayers that have been going forth in out city to "tear down wickedness, raise up righteousness, and bring healing to our land." As believers we have the spiritual authority and faith filled prayer is a God ordained way for us to exercise that authority. In support of this prayer gathering please join us as "we pray heaven to earth" (Matthew 6:10).
